Just From Me
02:33
|
|||
this will never be perfect
just like me
it may never be worth much
or anything
but may I not forget to occasionally pen
a song that's just from me
the rhythm and meter
my only friends
I don't know where this comes from
or where it ends
but I do not regret a chance to clear my head
with a song that's just from me
my heart is beating out of my hands
my mind is dreaming out of my head
I'm not my head

Cocoon
03:36
|
|||
out on a limb
I'm not comfortable
I know that there's a God, but where is He
forces here at work
beyond my control
cloaking me in night, and I can't see
This beautiful world
a sun a billion miles away
a light to pierce the night
bring a brand new day
a beautiful world
where waters of the sea
feeds clouds to soon disperse
bringing life to all who breath
I see God in everything
in my cocoon
I hear not a sound
as life goes on and on around me
don't help me out
you soon will see
what this cocoon has made of me

We're Not Alone
02:28
|
|||
we don't need no more broken souls
who once believed but have grown so cold
enough is enough
this is getting old
we sure don't need no more broken souls
what's the problem?
who's to blame?
we sure don't need no more broken souls
how 'bout our second chances?
we're gonna need much more
so thank God in heaven
we're not in this alone

Colors of Fall
03:01
|
|||
just another day
nose to the grind
is there no way for this life to slow down
I can't seem to grasp
how fast time has passed by
an optimist assumption
says I'm a quarter through life
I am yet to know
what I want to be when I'm grown
I spend all my time
harvesting what I've sown
one day will I awake
to find I never lived at all
in all this contemplation
I've missed the colors of fall

Man Named D
03:03
|
|||
let me tell you a story
about a man named "D"
he worked faithfully pushing carts on the lot
at the local Walgreens
when you drive by
he'll give you a smile and a wave
did you ever stop to give him the time of the day
and to ask him...
what are your dreams?
what do you live for?
what kind of lessons on life can you teach
to a cold heart like me?
well you crossed on the sidewalk
whenever "D" passed you by
sat down in the comfort of your SUV
and you gave him the eye
at church Sunday morning he's holding the tray
so happy from the little he so eagerly gave
and you ask yourself...
what are you dreams?
what do you live for?
what kind of lessons on life can you learn
from this old man named "D"
what kind of lessons on life can you learn
from this little old man that you've spurned?
this old man named "D"

You Never Know
04:31
|
|||
as I recall
I awoke with you shaking by my side
I feared like I have never in my life
as I recall
I lifted you and held you in my arms
no knowing if my love would live
I knew this was the worst day of my life
you never know
when life will take a turn
you never know
what lessons you will learn and why
as I recall
the way I felt when looking in your eyes
we're far too young to have to say goodbye
there in the hall
I crumbled in the floor and prayed
dear God, will You please hold me through the night
you never know
when life will take a turn
you never know
what lessons you will learn and why
as I recall
the first time that my son came into sight
as if there in the darkness sparked a light
I heard you cry
lifting your hand as if
to say, "hey, dad! I'm gonna be alright"
you never know
when life will take a turn
you never know
what lessons you will learn
you never know
what day could be your worst
you never know
when your worst becomes the best day of your life

The Whole Time
03:41
|
|||
do you really make a sound
if no one hears you cry
have you ever shed a tear
'cause no one is there to wipe your eyes
I can promise you
I've been there the whole time
before your first breath
I knew your name
every step you take
every season of change
and if your heart worries about what is to come
just know I'll be there the whole time
have you ever felt on top
like you could touch the sky
thought you did it on your own
and gotten lost in your pride
I can promise you
I was there the whole time
before your first breath
I knew your name
every step you would take
every season of change
and if your heart worries about what is to come
just know I'll be there the whole time
been there and back from where you're going
you won't make it without Me
you may not like this but you're growing
and one day you'll finally see
I've been there, will be there, and I've cared
the whole time

Brett Lee Wilson Sheridan, Arkansas
I've found songwriting to be the best way for me to process life, faith, and the world around me. Through song I feel we can interact with God, each other, and ourselves. I'm a blessed man with a loving wife, a son, a daughter, and a passion to see others experience the miracle of life with Jesus. I pray this music is enjoyable and thought provoking as I share my life with you. ... more
